Last night’s episode, helmed by the superstars Ben Affleck and Kanye West, let the spotlight shine on Fred Armisen and Bill Hader in some really terrific salutations to the departing veterans. In eight years on SNL, Hader has unquestionably left his mark. His impressions of Al Pacino, Vincent Price, Alan Alda, James Carville and many more, were spot-on; his original characters like TV reporter Herb Welch, Italian talk show host Vinny Vedecci, and countless game show hosts, are unforgettable. But no performance of Hader’s has elicited as big an audience reaction over the years as his portrayal of the New York City correspondent for Weekend Update, Stefon. And it was only right that the writers gave Stefon a proper NYC send-off, filled with just about everyone he’s talked of at the desk over the years.

I don’t think I’ve logged into Tumblr for at least three to four weeks. Given that I use social media for so many parts of my life including work and pleasure, I needed a break. I’ve missed reading my friend’s random musings and catching up on the latest Once Upon A Time spoilers though.

Not sure how often I’ll keep posting here just because I think I’ve exhausted the medium BUT maybe I’ll check my dashboard a bit more often so I can stay in the loop on y’alls stories!

Why It's Good To Unplug

Now that baseball season’s started I’ve been running around a lot this week keeping busy. It’s tiring but manageable and well worth the extra time spent watching and writing about baseball. But sometimes, when you need to re-charge those internal batteries, the best thing to do is to put that cell phone on Airplane Mode and go to sleep early.

I did that tonight, woke up at about 1 a.m. just ‘cuz (mostly because our building’s air conditioning isn’t on yet and it’s crazy hot in my apartment so it’s hard to fall back asleep), and I’ve gotta say it felt good to unplug for a night. Granted, I’ve gotta be back up again at 6:30 a.m. to get a few morning tasks done but alas … as I said … it’s tiring … but manageable … and well worth it.

Here’s to another day grinding away!

…And I’ve started working on a wedding song that I was asked to write for a certain special couple of my dear friends who are tying the knot soon.

1) I love creative writing assignments

2) Being asked to do something like this is so so special to me (as are the people who the song is for)

3) I can NOT wait to share this song with them on their special day

It’s not done yet but I’m starting to hash out the ideas. The biggest struggle will be the chorus, which is what I’m working on right now, but this is a challenge I’m more than willing to face.

If you had told me the first Opening Day game I’d ever go to was today’s Nats-Marlins game coming off the Nats 2012 NL East Championship season when I was younger I never would’ve believed you.

You can join us at 1500 South Capitol Street, and the Navy Yard Metro is right there.
